Welcome to our little “home” on the world wide web. Here the constant evolution of our lives will be chronicled. Whether it be the kids and I chasing Chet around the U.S. as he runs what is really a ridiculous number of miles, sharing the various adventures and exploits of Gabriel, documenting Rebeka’s efforts to keep up and out do her big brother, or just my musings about all things wonderful and praiseworthy in this life, this will be a forum for it all.
A little background, Chet and I consummated our partnership in 1996. However, our adventures and misadventures didn’t start there and we certainly haven’t slowed down at all, things are just constantly evolving in our lives. In 2004 we decided to take up the risk factor a level and welcomed Gabriel into our lives. After spending nearly five years appreciating and experiencing all the joys and challenges of parenthood, we decided one child was really too easy, and again kicked it up a notch, bringing Rebeka into the fold.
While it was never intended or expected to have the “perfect American family” it happened, and really for us life is perfect. Chet and I have two beautiful children who continually keep us on our toes. Additionally, Chet’s healthy addiction to ultra running enables us, as a family, to go on many adventures. Through Chet’s addiction, we’ve developed many wonderful friends, many of whom you’ll get to know through these pages.
As for me, I’m the dutiful wife. Hahaha, yah, that’s a good joke. But, in all seriousness, I cherish my family and enjoy spending my time being an enabler to their activities. So, I wear many hats – shuttle driver, aid station captain, abuse deliverer (I think that might be my favorite hat), cheerleader, endless supporter, masterful taper, bacon bringer, and on occasion I get to be a voice of reason.
It is our hope that thought these pages our friends and family get to keep up with us, and maybe I’ll get a little slack for not writing often enough or sending enough pictures. One can hope!
Thanks for the updates. Mike, Katie, and I will be praying for all of you and Gabriel’s fight!
Love to you
Gabe — You are the man! Hang in there. I’ll be thinking of you as I prepare for and run the 50 miler at the end of the month. My son Andrew had “ALL” when he was 11. He attemted the WS100 last year and made it 80 miles. Hope and prayers are headed your way from our family.
